NWABR is excited to announce the introduction our new bioinformatics curriculum, developed in conjunction with high school science teachers during the 2009 Curriculum Development Workshop. The curriculum is funded by a National Science Foundation grant, Bio-ITEST: New Frontiers in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, and is comprised of two different units or "Strands." The Introductory Strand utilizes bioinformatics resources to teach basic concepts in molecular biology. The Advanced Strand, which is the focus of this workshop, incorporates additional informatics resources and includes an authentic inquiry-based investigation specifically for advanced students. Our Bioinformatics Program is funded by a Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers Award from the National Science Foundation.
