Speakers' Bureaus

California Society for Biomedical Research (CSBR)

CSBR brings the research community into the classroom to foster better understanding of the benefits of biomedical research to humans and animals and to increase students' interest in science education and science-based careers. CSBR arranges for physicians, veterinarians, laboratory staff, researchers, scientists, and others in the medical field to speak to K-12 science and health classes and organizations throughout California and Nevada on topics of the life sciences, careers in the field, and the importance of biomedical research. Speakers have expertise in such areas of research such as gene therapy, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, alcohol and drug abuse, immunology, and HIV/AIDS. To request a speaker in your classroom, fill out our Speakers' Bureau Request Form or visit our Speakers' Bureau Page.

Chicago Branch AALAS

The Chicago Branch AALAS connects volunteer speakers with schools and organizations. Please fill out and submit the Request Form if you wish to have a volunteer give a presentation on an aspect of biomedical research or veterinary medicine.

Massachusetts Society for Medical Research (MSMR)

MSMR works with teachers to bring speakers to class to discuss science, research, risk, and animal care in ways appropriate to elementary school students. If you'd like to know more about our Science Beat program, including laboratory visits, e-mail us here. Tell us your name, the school, town and grade, your phone number and the best time to get in touch with you. The Science Beat program is open to all schools in Massachusetts.

Society for Neuroscience (SfN)

Neuroscientist-Teacher Partner Program

If you are a neuroscientist or completing graduate studies in neuroscience and would like to interact with teachers and students in K-12 classrooms, your expertise is needed to share knowledge and raise interest in the nervous system.

The program partners K-12 educators and other involved in teacher preparation at the college or university level with Society members who have volunteered their time.

Click a state on the interactive map here to see names and locations of participating neuroscientists. Educators are invited to make contact by e-mail or phone.

Neuroscientists interested in joining the program are invited to submit contact information. For more information, see frequently asked questions or contact SfN's Public Education Department at education@sfn.org.

Southwest Association for Education in Biomedical Research (SwAEBR)

SwAEBR was formed with the specific mission of developing and implementing a strong proactive campaign to educate school children, as well as the general public, in the vital role biomedical research plays in their everyday lives. SwAEBR disseminates information to improve the public's understanding of how responsible research has led to significantly improved health care for man and his animal companions.
